DE LLOYD NV: Publications

The history of De Lloyd NV is closely bound up with the port world: its shipping news is an excellent source of information and also a tool for all those involved in the transport industry and related activities.

Its readers include shippers (who purchase transport services), forwarders (transport organisers) and transport operators. The newspapers are read in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and 30 or so other countries.

Since 2002  De Lloyd NV has been fully owned by DVV Media Group. De Lloyd NV forms part of the European Transport Press (ETP) group, giving it greater international reach.

The flagship publications of De Lloyd NV are its transport industry newspapers De Lloyd (in Dutch) and its sister paper Le Lloyd (in French). The French language version was first published in 1858. Its Dutch equivalent first appeared on the market in 1979. Both newspapers share a number of pages in English.

De Lloyd covers business and political news in the various sectors of transport and logistics (shipping, barge transport, road haulage, rail etc.), both in Belgium and internationally.

Once a week it publishes the list of departures from Belgian ports and the most important intermodal connections.

Each of the following subjects has a feature page devoted to it once per month:

> Transport IT Solutions

> Heavy Trucks, Trailers & Technology

> Vans & Handling Equipment

> Customs

De Lloyd also publishes regular Supplements focusing on particular subjects or events, as well as Special Reports (in English) in magazine format. Subscribers to De Lloyd automatically receive these Supplements and Special Reports.

Readers obtain a list of shortsea connections every month. De Lloyd covers the entire market, and is aimed not only at the shippers but also at the forwarders and carriers.

Subscribers to De Lloyd and Le Lloyd receive the e-Lloyd by e-mail free every day. This electronic newsletter contains a summary of the daily news, with references to more extensive coverage in the newspaper or on the website. Also non-subscribers can register for free.

Transport Echo is the monthly magazine of De Lloyd. It supplements the newspaper with analysis, interpretation and comment, as well as in-depth interviews and background information (features and investigations). It appears in Dutch and French.

For busy executives and business leaders who have less time to read there are the Newsletters of Transport Echo. These are so succinctly written that it takes less than six minutes to go through all the essential news. There are three versions: the Multimodal Briefing (weekly), the Road Transport Briefing (weekly) and the Customs Briefing (monthly, in Dutch only).

Specifically for the European shortsea sector De Lloyd publishes Shortsea Shipping Europe, a monthly bulletin in English which appears as a supplement in the newspaper, with a balanced mix of brief news and background articles.
